PLACE VS. SPACE:
Does Workplace Experience Matter More Than Location?
The evolution of the workplace in Canada remains a work in progress. Employee experience has become a strategic business priority, while many organizations continue to reassess the size, purpose, and location of their office portfolios. Across Canada, companies are balancing workplace experience investments with changing employee expectations around flexibility, commute times, accessibility, and collaboration.
At the same time, location strategy remains under the microscope. Organizations are evaluating whether premium downtown locations continue to deliver value, how transit accessibility influences attendance, and whether hub-and-spoke or distributed workplace models can better support talent attraction and retention. In major markets such as Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montréal, corporate occupiers are navigating shifting workplace utilization patterns while seeking to create spaces that employees actively choose to use.
But what matters more to employees today: where the office is located, or the experience they have once they arrive?
At this years CoreNet CRE Leadership Roundtable session, panelists will share how they are balancing location strategy, workplace experience, and portfolio optimization while adapting to the realities of hybrid work.
The discussion will highlight innovative approaches Canadian organizations are taking to create destinations rather than obligations, and how Corporate Real Estate leaders are increasingly serving as strategic partners to HR, business leaders, and the C-suite in driving culture, productivity, and talent outcomes. Following the panel, we will break into smaller groups to further discuss!
