Unwritten Rules: The Social Distancing/Social Cohesion Tour - September 23, 2020

We know we have significant challenges to face over the next many months, with no easy answers or short cuts. We also know that workplaces work best when they both satisfy functional requirements and support great user experiences—whether those are in person or remote.

Social science now has new things to teach us about improving user experiences and performance. Uncovering Unwritten Rules inside an organization enables the organization to align behaviors with aspirations and helps workplace designers to enhance user experiences.

Our speakers will explore:

• The power of social cohesion…especially in today’s circumstances
• What unwritten rules are and why they are relevant to organizations and the workplace-making industry
• How to uncover unwritten rules, work with them, and if necessary, change them
• How to help workers navigate the rapid changes in today's work environment.

SPEAKERS:

Jan Johnson – Jan Johnson is a workplace strategist and designer. She is vice president of workplace strategy at Allsteel, former chair of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and teaches the three MCR.w classes for CoreNet Global.

Jeff Leitner – Jeff Leitner is a social innovator and theorist. He is founder and lead researcher at Unwritten Labs, a fellow at New America, and former innovator in residence at the University of Southern California.
