The Post: How to Plan for a 1.1 million SF Construction Project

The Post is one of the most ambitious heritage redevelopments in Canada’s history and it celebrates the location’s Canada Post legacy through sustainable and adaptive reuse while at the same time prioritizing the needs of Vancouver’s emerging technology economy.

Located at 349 West Georgia Street, The Post includes 1.1 million square feet of state-of-the-art office space spread through two new towers and lower level “mega-floors” each spanning the entire block area, all for a single tenant. In addition, there is more office space on lower floors, surrounded by extensive retail, eateries and public spaces to complete the development.

In this event, JLL - the project management team for the primary office tenant - will provide insights to the unique challenges and opportunities for this landmark project in the exciting hub of downtown Vancouver.

Speaker: Elaine Dillon, Director, Project Management, JLL

As the Director of Project Management for JLL Project and Development Services BC, Elaine leads her talented team of Project Managers to deliver exciting projects for some of the most prominent businesses in the world. Her wide ranging experience over 20+ years, and strong background as a structural engineer, afford her the breadth of knowledge to resolve the most challenging design and construction challenges. She oversees key aspects of all projects with her team to ensure high standards and continuous improvement, in addition to personally delivering select projects or key phases of project execution as Project Manager. In addition to project delivery, Elaine has also enjoyed working with clients to establish their Project Management Office (PMO) with her interest in success through a team approach and strong process guidelines.

Some of Elaine’s favorite projects through the years include the Redevelopment of the BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital; the restoration of the 150+ year National Art Gallery of Ireland – with art remaining in place and human remains holding up the walls; and of course this landmark project in the center of Vancouver city, The Post!

Originally hailing from Ireland, Elaine moved to Canada in 2010 and is now a proud Canadian citizen. When not donning her hard hat and challenging change orders, Elaine can usually be found performing with various bands on her violin, in all the local Vancouver hot-spots, including with her Burnabarian husband. They excitedly await the arrival of their first child in late summer, to hopefully coincide with a return to seeing the world in person once more!
