Join us for an engaging discussion with Avison Young’s experts who will address today’s workplace and considerations for Canada markets along with projects and construction. Sheila Botting will address workplace trends focused toward the employee experience in this pandemic environment. Arlene Dedier will address project management and challenges facing the development and construction industry with supply chain constrains. Marie-France Benoit will highlight Avison’s Vitality Index that showcases return to office for Canadian downtowns, along with industry sectors. Joe Almeida will provide an overview of the Toronto marketplace, identifying key topics in demand for space and key market themes.

Panelists:

Sheila Botting, FRICS, FCMC is Principal & President of Avison Young’s Americas Professional Services practice that includes approximately 300 professionals across the major US, Canadian and Mexico markets. Together with her team, she is engaged in assignments for both occupiers and investors who are navigating the challenges of today’s marketplace. Sheila held previous roles with Deloitte where she led many corporate occupier workplace and operations strategy, and Cushman & Wakefield where she led Valuation & Advisory focused toward investors and property owners.

Arlene Dedier,  B. Arch., PMP, LEED GA, Assoc. AIA is Principal, Executive Vice President and Canadian Practice Leader of Project Management. Arlene strategizes and oversees Canada’s Project Management professionals to ensure delivery of full service solutions for both occupier and investor clients that meets real estate, development and construction requirements. She brings three decades of experience in project management, commercial real estate and architecture – including, most recently, 11 years at Colliers Project Leaders in roles of increasing seniority. Arlene is an active member of CREW Network and has participated in the Sponsorship Committee as well as the Inclusion, Equity, Diversity and Allyship (IDEA) Committee.

Marie-France Benoit is Director of Insights in Canada. As Director, Marie-France develops and implements Avison Young’s insight and analysis program, working with colleagues across Canadian geographies and sectors. She is a real estate intelligence and communications specialist with over 20 years of experience in the CRE industry. Prior to joining Avison Young, she served as the Senior Director of Strategic Development for Altus Group, a provider of software, data, and advisory solutions. Before Altus, Marie-France was General Manager of Espace Publications. 

Joe Almeida is Managing Director, Toronto and Toronto North for Avison Young. He is responsible for the overall operations of the Toronto and the Toronto North offices including recruitment and business development initiatives as the company continues to grow. During his lengthy career as a broker in both the downtown Toronto and Toronto West suburban markets, Joe has gained a wide range of experience negotiating leases & investment sales transactions for national and multinational occupants and owners of commercial real estate across all asset classes; including office, industrial, data centre and retail properties.
